Loggers Memorial, Forks Washington

Back
That was made clear when the Forks Washington Loggers' Memorial was dedicated on May 25, 1991.
Located near the Forks Timber Museum south of town, the memorial depicts an 11 -foot tall wood carving of a proud logger and his ax. Set upon a massive tree stump, the figure stands an impressive 14-foot high. It is protected by a steep, architecturally-pleasing roof built with community donations.
Local woodcarver Dennis Chastain created the masterpiece to honor loggers and their work.
Behind the carving, etched on special plaques. in glass cases, are more than 300 names of deceased timber workers, who dedicated their lives to working in the woods.

In Tribute to those in the timber industry who perished providing the materials for the backbone of America's greatness. And in Gratitude to those working there now.
